Ackeemeter

About

Built for the whole island.

Ackeemeter started from one observation: a visitor's week in Jamaica is assembled from a dozen small businesses, and not one of them can see the others. The trip lives only in the traveller's phone, held together by calls and cash.

The problem

A week in Jamaica is a dozen separate deals.

The driver at Sangster does not know which guesthouse you are going to. The guesthouse does not know you booked the coffee farm on Thursday. The farm has no idea you need collecting from Irish Town. Every handover is renegotiated in person, in cash, at the exact moment it should already be settled.

It works, because Jamaican operators are wonderful at making it work. But it caps how much of the island a visitor sees, and it keeps the businesses without a marketing budget invisible. The trip is the product, and nobody was building the trip.

What we built

One warm platform that holds the whole chain.

  1. One model, eight kinds

A transfer, a villa, a farm tour and a skydive are all a service with a booking. What differs is the detail behind it, so search, booking and guest lists work the same for all of them.

  2. Chaining as a first-class idea

Businesses partner and offer each other's services. Agencies compose day-by-day trips across as many businesses as a week needs. Both end in real bookings held by whoever does the work.

  3. Forms that ask the right things

Every service carries its own booking form, and groups carry a per-guest list. The details arrive with the booking, instead of in a WhatsApp thread at 11pm.

  4. Parish as a fact, not an afterthought

Every business and every listing carries its parish. Coverage is counted across all fourteen, which is the only way the smaller operators ever become findable.

Where we actually are

New, and saying so.

Ackeemeter is in beta with founding operators. Rather than dress that up, here is the honest list of things version one deliberately does not do yet.

  • No card processing in version one. Payment status is tracked; money is not moved.
  • No settling of partner commissions. They are recorded, not paid out.
  • No mobile app yet. The platform is a website that behaves on a phone.
  • No channel manager, no currency conversion, no live chat.

What it does do is hold every kind of Jamaican tourism business on one system, in all fourteen parishes, and let a whole trip be planned across them and booked once.

Come on early.

Founding operators shape what gets built next, and pay nothing while we launch.
